Valentine’s Day 2018

Every year at our firm, staff are rewarded for all their hard work the previous year with an Away Day. Staff are taken to a venue and treated to a day of fun filled activities (not to mention a nice lunch) to inspire and motivate for the coming year. This year, the Away Day was held at the stunning Vermilion Cinebar. The restaurant and bar is know for its fabulous Eastern decor. This year’s Away Day happened to fall on 14th February 2018. Valentine’s Day is of course the most romantic day of the year. Naturally, the theme was love.

Vision for the future

The Away Day kicked off with talks from our Managing Partner Umar Memon, Senior Partner Peter Black and activities ran by our Senior Leadership Team. The talks discussed our company’s vision for now and the future. Unsurprisingly, the theme of love ran throughout the proceedings. The Senior Leadership Team led the rest of the morning’s activities. Hilariously, our Director of Innovation Paul Medcalfe even led the team in a super motivational performance of the famous Icelandic football chant!

The love is all around

After a great lunch, the afternoon session was led by the fantastic Hayley Caine. Hayley explored love in all its incarnations related to business. We discussed the importance of self love, loving our colleagues, our clients and our individual roles. We talked about where there was room for improvement, and all staff took part in thought provoking exercises. The afternoon session was enlightening and provocative, and really got the staff thinking.

To sum up, the team had a fabulous and interesting Away Day at Vermilion. There were lots of laughs and the exercises were highly motivational. To quote Hayley, the team were definitely ‘feeling the love!’
