JacRox is a Xero partner based in Manchester, part of Jack Ross Chartered Accountants (est. 1948). We support small companies, micro-entities, and growing businesses with year-end accounts across the UK.
Can Xero file company accounts?
Yes. Xero handles your bookkeeping during the year – invoices, bank feeds, expenses. When year-end arrives, Xero Tax takes your Xero data and prepares the statutory accounts in iXBRL format for filing.
Xero Tax is a separate tool within the Xero partner suite. As your Xero partner accountant, we use Xero Tax to:
- Prepare statutory accounts from your Xero data
- Calculate corporation tax and prepare your CT600 return
- Submit accounts to Companies House electronically
- Submit your tax return to HMRC directly from Xero Tax
One tool, both filings. No printing, no posting, no separate tax software. Xero Tax pulls everything from your live Xero account.
What are statutory accounts?
Statutory accounts are the formal financial statements filed with Companies House each year. They include a balance sheet, profit and loss account, notes, and (for most companies) a directors’ report.
Small companies (turnover under 10.2 million, fewer than 50 staff) can file abridged accounts under FRS 102 Section 1A. Micro-entities (turnover under 632,000) file simpler accounts under FRS 105. Xero Tax supports both formats.
Filing deadlines
- Companies House – file within 9 months of your year-end
- HMRC tax return (CT600) – file within 12 months of your year-end
- Corporation tax payment – pay within 9 months and 1 day
Late filing attracts automatic penalties – 150 from Companies House on day one, plus HMRC interest on late tax. We track deadlines for every client and start preparation well ahead.
How we prepare your accounts
- Review your Xero data – Check bank reconciliation, invoices, expenses are complete and correctly coded.
- Post year-end adjustments – Depreciation, accruals, prepayments, and stock. All updated in Xero.
- Prepare in Xero Tax – We build the statutory accounts and CT600 in Xero Tax from your Xero data.
- Client approval – You review the draft. We explain anything you’re unsure about.
- Submit to HMRC and Companies House – We file both from Xero Tax. You get confirmation numbers as proof of filing.
Ongoing support
We don’t just file and disappear. After submission, we support you with HMRC correspondence, tax planning, chart of accounts updates, and company secretarial reminders. If HMRC opens an enquiry, we handle it.
What does it cost?
Annual accounts start from 500 + VAT. The fee depends on turnover, transaction volume, and whether we handle your bookkeeping. Existing clients get a reduced rate – clean Xero data all year means less work at year-end.
