How to maintain your Xero certification

Xero certifications

If you are a already a Xero user, you will likely be aware of the Xero points system. Xero points can be increased by ensuring you and others in your business are Xero certified. The primary certifications are Advisor, Migration and Payroll.

As well as boosting points for you and your business, the Xero certification courses were designed to provide users with the right skills and knowledge to help clients effectively. However, keeping your certification up to date has been found to be confusing and time-consuming. In response, Xero are rolling out a new system for maintaining your certification which is easier and more time-efficient.

The new system

  • Every quarter, Xero will invite users to a product update webinar.
  • You will watch the live or pre-recorded webinar and correctly answer five questions on what you have seen. This will earn you five Adviser credits.
  • If you successfully complete all four courses for the year, you will have the 20 credits that you need to stay certified.

It’s as easy as that!

There will be a quarterly product update course for the Adviser, Migration and Payroll certifications. Each one has the same renewal process.

Xero will let you know in advance when each quarterly update is imminent. Furthermore, they will advise you on what to do if your expiry date is near.

However, don’t worry if work gets on top of you and your certification does expire. Xero have now implemented a 30-day window in which you can catch up on your courses. Therefore, you don’t have to complete the full certification all over again.

When does this come into effect?

The first quarterly webinar for Xero Adviser Certification will be on 1st August 2018. For Payroll, the update will begin during the second week in August. The Migration webinar will commence in October of this year.

If you are a certified Xero partner, you will get a reminder email three weeks prior to each webinar.
